I am Associate Professor of Sociology in the School of Sociology at University of Arizona. In addition to my articles, I have written Managing Medical Authority, which explains how physicians, hospitals, and private companies together shape how medical authority is managed and maintained. My research focuses on medicine, work and occupations, culture, qualitative methods, and theory.
I previously worked at Michigan State University, where I was honored to receive the 2017 Teacher-Scholar and the 2018 Undergraduate Research Faculty Mentor of the Year awards.
I received my BA from the University of Wisconsin--Madison, my MPhil from the University of Cambridge, and my MA and PhD from the University of Chicago.
